Koch Chemie PowerSpeedPolish: The Cutting Compound For Serious Paint Correction

Koch Chemie PowerSpeedPolish is the heavy-cut compound from the Koch Chemie The Finisher line, engineered to remove deep scratches, severe swirl marks, oxidation and orange-peel texture from clear coat in a single workflow. Developed in the Koch Chemie laboratories in Unna, Germany, PowerSpeedPolish uses a high-grade alumina abrasive system that cuts fast without leaving aggressive hazing behind.

Where consumer-grade polishes need multiple passes to remove medium defects, PowerSpeedPolish removes the same damage in one cycle with a wool or microfiber cutting pad. The German formulation is designed to break down progressively, starting aggressive for the cut and finishing finer to leave a workable surface ready for finishing polish. Use it as the first step in a two-stage correction, paired with ShineSpeedPolish for the gloss-up second pass.

Why Detailers Trust PowerSpeedPolish

  • Heavy-cut performance: removes 1500-grit sanding marks, deep swirls, oxidation and severe etching in a single pass with the right pad.
  • Progressive breakdown: starts aggressive for cutting and finishes finer, reducing the work needed on the second polish step.
  • Low dust, low sling: the lubricated formula keeps the work area cleaner than dry-cutting compounds.
  • Works hot or cool: consistent cutting performance across ambient temperatures without flashing off too fast.
  • Pad-compatible: works with wool, microfiber cutting and aggressive foam pads on dual-action and rotary polishers.
  • Made in Germany: formulated and bottled in Koch Chemie's own laboratories in Unna.

How to Use Koch Chemie PowerSpeedPolish

  1. Wash, decontaminate and clay the vehicle before polishing. Polishing over contamination causes deeper scratches.
  2. Tape off rubber trim, plastic edges and badges to protect them from polish residue.
  3. Apply 4 to 5 pea-sized dots of PowerSpeedPolish onto a clean wool or microfiber cutting pad.
  4. Spread the product across a 60 by 60 cm section at low speed (DA setting 1 to 2 or rotary 600 RPM).
  5. Polish at working speed (DA setting 4 to 5 or rotary 1200 to 1500 RPM) with overlapping passes, light pressure on a dual-action and consistent pressure on a rotary.
  6. Continue working until the product flashes from creamy to clear and the defects have been removed. Typically 4 to 6 passes per section.
  7. Wipe the section with a clean microfiber towel to inspect the surface and check for remaining defects.

Pro tip: always follow PowerSpeedPolish with ShineSpeedPolish (or another finishing polish) to refine the surface and remove any micro-marring from the heavy-cut stage. The two products are designed to work together as a complete correction system.

Important: always test on a hidden panel first to verify the cut level matches your paint hardness. Soft Asian paints may require less aggressive pads, hard German and Korean paints often need wool pads to get full cutting performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between PowerSpeedPolish and ShineSpeedPolish?
PowerSpeedPolish is the heavy-cut stage for removing defects. ShineSpeedPolish is the finishing stage for refining the surface and bringing out maximum gloss. The two products are designed to work as a two-step correction system: PowerSpeedPolish first to remove damage, ShineSpeedPolish second to finalize the surface.

Can I use PowerSpeedPolish on a dual-action polisher?
Yes. PowerSpeedPolish works on dual-action (DA) polishers with appropriate cutting pads. For maximum cutting performance use a microfiber or wool cutting pad. DA polishers cut slower than rotary but are safer for users learning paint correction.

How much paint does PowerSpeedPolish remove?
PowerSpeedPolish removes only the topmost layer of clear coat, typically less than 1 micron per polish session. Total clear coat thickness on modern vehicles is 35 to 50 microns. As long as you do not polish the same area repeatedly across many years, you have ample clear coat for occasional correction work.

Is PowerSpeedPolish safe on ceramic coatings?
No. PowerSpeedPolish is a cutting compound that will remove ceramic coatings, sealants and wax. After polishing you need to reapply your last-step protection. This is standard practice in any correction workflow.

Can I use PowerSpeedPolish by hand without a machine?
Hand application produces limited results because the cut depends on heat and consistent pressure that only a machine can deliver. For minor scratches and light correction, hand polishing with ShineSpeedPolish can work. For real correction with PowerSpeedPolish, use a polishing machine.

Where is PowerSpeedPolish made?
Koch Chemie PowerSpeedPolish is formulated and bottled in Germany by Koch Chemie GmbH at their headquarters in Unna. The Rag Company Europe is an authorised dealer of the Koch Chemie The Finisher line for Europe.
